Porting a number is a process to reassign your fax number to another carrier. That allows you to keep using your current fax number.
Request
To start using your current fax number in eComfax you need the following:
PORTING DOCUMENTS NEEDED |
DESCRIPTION |
LOA
Letter of Authorization, including: · Fax number to be ported. · The bank account number for the service charge. · This letter must be signed by the person that initially was authorized to buy the service. · The company address in the LOA, and the address of the fax number in the current provider must match. |
A copy of the Last Invoice |
A copy of the last invoice from the old service provider including at least the first page, where the fax number to be ported is shown.
After gathering those documents, please send them to:
customer.services@ecomfax.com
The handling process may not start until CWS have received these two documents properly filled in and signed
Once CWS has received the user’s signed letter, along with the mandatory documents, the time to complete reassign of the carrier is 7 to 15 working days. The processing will not start until all the necessary documentation has been received. •
When can I use the service?
During the process you can check the Fax number status in your eComfax web.
While the porting is in process the status should be “PENDING”

Until such porting processing gets effective, you can send faxes and use all features of advanced communications (CertiFax, PCIFax,) but not receive faxes on your number until the process is finish. When the transfer is completed, the status of your Fax status turns into “Completed” and therefore faxes send to your number come in the eComfax platform.

Number was ported to COMCAST and we have now been several days without fax.
Numbers to be used in eComFax need to be ported to eComFax and not to COMCAST network. Doing so may leave customer without fax service for several days.
My current fax number is managed by eFax (J2Global) company.
In order to release the number, the customer has to talk with the current carrier (J2s reseller) to discuss ways to port their number away. J2 does offer phone support, the customer needs reach out to them (we can not do that on behalf of the customer):
